Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India


Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is one of the most sacred temple Dedicated to Maha Vishnu. Bhagwan Parasurama purified & venerated the idol of Sree Padmanabhaswamy in Dvapara Yuga. According to Historians the temple was established on the 1st day of Kaliyuga (5121 years ago or 3102 BCE). On the 950th year of Kali Yuga(2152 BCE) reinstallation of the idol was done. In the 960th year of Kali yuga(2142 BCE) King Kotha Marthandan built the Abhisravana Mandapam. This temple was later renovated & expanded by many rulers.
Brahma Purana, Matsya Purana, Varaha Purana, Skanda Purana, Padma Purana, Vayu Purana, Bhagavata Purana & the Mahabharata mentions this shrine.

There's also mention of this temple in 2500 year old Sangam literature. The temple is one among 108 Divya Desams (Most sacred 108 Bhagwan Vishnu Temples)

It was always Pro Government until N Ram took over patronized by Brahmins and Senior Officials, it was a part of many a persons life, including mine The Hindu National news paper’s legacy ended in 1991 when Kasturi stepped down as Editor. From 1991 it became The Anti Hindu Anti-National news paper.
